Yes, I managed to catch some parts of last night’s Emmy Awards, particularly David Letterman’s tribute to Johnny Carson.
I first got introduced to the Tonight Show when we got hooked up to the Far Eastern Network of the then US Bases in the Philippines through a special antenna we had installed to enable us to get their television feed. I used to stay up late at night and laugh my heart out, and I believe I even caught his farewell in 1992.
Truly, his brand of comedy is one of a kind and sorely missed despite our crop of accomplished comedians who now grace the television screen.

David Letterman is a star in his own right…He pulls no punches and tells things as it is. We need more of this type of television instead of all those rubbish ‘reality’ shows!
