Kahit Ika'y Panaginip Lang, Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka.. You

When I saw a 4-CD Basil Valdez anthology, I HAD to have it..!  So I’m turning nostalgic and ultra senti here listening to Ngayon, You, Kahit Ika’y Panaginip Lang.. over and over again, in ultra-low volume, but enjoying it to the hilt.  Am I glad Basil Valdez cut so many albums before going into retirement.  Nothing beats the original version indeed..

There were so many new artists on the CD shelves Alan and I gambled on a few and were quite happy with most of the CDs we purchased.  Still, it’s the original OPM artists we grew up with that give us greater pleasure. 

I’m one of those closet Barry Manilow fans who find such thrill listening to the ballads of the likes of Hajji Alejandro and Basil Valdez.  While Alan and I have moved on to listening to Rachel Alejandro’s version of NAKAPAGTATAKA and more recently, MYMP’s done live, you can’t help but wish OPM was like it used to be.  (For the younger ones who know only of Regine Velasquez and Martin Nievera, you probably don’t have any idea about what I’m talking about.) 

“Kahit na di na gumising pa, wag lang malayo sa piling mo… iniibig kahit ika’y panaginip lang..”  Give me Basil Valdez anytime.
