Blog hopping

I’ve missed visiting my blogfriends this past couple of weeks, and I finally found the time and opportunity to indulge in it this afternoon.  Unlike most bloghoppers, I limit myself to the blogs I read as listed on my sidebar.  I just don’t have the time to go surfing blind — and while I used to visit pinoytopblogs.com regularly, I haven’t had time to do that of late.  I used to move my blog counter regularly but I have lost even that.  (Okay, let me put it back on.)

So I paid a few blogfriends a visit and tried to catch up.  I didn’t realize so many had celebrated birthdays.. Lani, Annabanana..  And then Jayred and Ces have both returned from Manila themselves.  One of my favorite couple, Jher and Jerome are, as usual, are still very much together.  I have to read some more and visit Toni… a blog at a time..

The Tinola was a success!

Before anyone comes up with some retort about the triviality of cooking Tinola, let me put my cards down on the table and ‘fess up that cooking local dishes does not come naturally to me.  Without the recipe, I’m lost.

It came out rather nicely with the chayote and the romaine lettuce, more so since I didn’t want to get the flavors too sharp because I intended to save some of the dish for Angel’s lunch/dinner the next couple of days.

Dinner was Italian Tomato sauce with Rigatonni, recipe from Nora Daza’s cookbook.

Alan arrives in 8 hours and I was actually seriously contemplating on walking to the neighborhood Dunkin Donuts (w/c has its counterpart Baskin & Robbins store) to pick up an ice cream cake for the first part of our Father’s Day celebration, but then I had to give that up to lull the tyke to sleep and wind down myself.

I was asking Alan to make reservations at Norma’s in Le Parker Meridien for brunch tomorrow, but we had second thoughts about it owing to his red eye flight that will see him landing at JFK by 6AM.  We’ll play it by ear but will definitely celebrate..
