The Postcards from Williamsburg and DC have arrived

I came prepared.  I had stamps for the postcards heading back to New York and for those going to Manila.  Even before Angel came, Alan would send me postcards whenever he went on a business trip.  We started this exchange even before I arrived here in New York.  Even when we were together, we send postcards home to “remember” the trip by.  When Angel came, the postcards were addressed to him.  Even when we went to Sesame Place for a day trip, I would send a postcard home as a souvenir of the memories.

I got a little carried away this time when we went to Williamsburg, Virginia and stopping by Washington, DC on the way home.  14 postcards have made it to New York.  I even picked up three free postcards from a New Jersey rest area, and that one will make it’s way to New Jersey so it’s postmarked correctly when it makes it back home.

I have more or less 50 in Angel’s album now.  I want him to see where we went not just in pictures as I am compiling them, but in postcards which I have always considered my window to the world.  I started collecting them in 1985 as a way of seeing places I thought I would never get to see.  Thought I may never get to visit them all, I am doing just fine making my way around.  I have a lifetime ahead with Alan, and one thing we promised ourselves was we would see the world together.

When he’s bigger, Angel will be with us discovering that world as well.
